My most important purchase before my travels get underway has been made: my backpack. I went for the Vango Planet 60+20. The 60+20 bit refers to the volume in litres the pack holds, 60 litres in the main compartment and a further 20 in the removable ‘daypack’. There’s loads of different ways of carrying it, and has the essential hip belt to focus the weight on the hips rather than the spine. It has an in-built rain cover which will also come in handy to cover the pack when it’s in transit.
Other features include padlocks, a suitcase-style interior for flat-packing and more pockets and adjustable straps than you can shake a stick at. I’ll be living out of this bad boy for 5 months so I had to choose wisely; I think it’s up to the challenge. Setting me back £72+postage from Outback Trading, I saved over a tenner on the RRP. I had intended to buy the same pack for £89.99 from an outdoor shop in Banbury but they’d sold out when I went in to pick it up.
Not much more to buy now, I’ve also invested in a new digital camera and the Zen Nano Plus mp3 player, which has flash memory enabling me to transfer my music files from a DVD in any internet cafe along the way without having to install any software. It’s a great little piece of kit!

All quality purchases! I dont think your site is currently providing an RSS or atom feed as your new posts are not registering in bloglines! Would definitely be good to add a feed so I know when you’ve updated!
