I came to Ko Si Chang in search of the rare white squirrel. That’s not really why I came here but I have been keeping an eye out for the creatures, native to this little island.
Since I last wrote I went back east for two nights meeting up with Ben and Mark etc (Brackley boys in Bangkok!) and went out and got pretty steaming with that lot, I can’t remember getting home the first night but according to Rob I was giving marital advice to an old Mexican man. I’d love to find out what I was saying. The second night was all about playing pool in Gullivers. Out of about seven games, I won one, and that was against a girl, and she told me beforehand to go easy on her because it was her first match. I think I was just unlucky.
I’m now two-and-a-half hours down the east coast from Bangkok, on a small island called Ko Si Chang. There are very few travellers/westerners here, and so I get stared at by locals wherever I go. Yesterday I did a bit of exploration by foot and had a nice steak at a place owned by an American guy. This morning I rented out Betsy, and that’s not a prostitute, just the name I’ve given my 55kph moped. After filling her up with a couple of litres (35p/litre) of fuel, I took to the windy coastal roads and took lots of pictures of the rocky coastline and open sea. I found a small beach to spend a couple of hours sunbathing, and later on I’m going to ride up the west coast where I discovered an ideal sunset spot.
I leave tomorrow morning and I’ve got to find a bus to take me further east to Ko Samet, another small island, famous for it’s white sandy beaches. I’m a little worried I’ll struggle to find any cheap accommodation because it’s supposed to be very popular, and I’ve been overspending my budget thus far. Fingers crossed, speak again soon.
